The Nets nicked the previous two games with a 2-point gap in the first game and a 5-point gap in the second game. Brooklyn came from a 28-point deficit in the second game to win 111-106 at Madison Square Garden.
Both teams need to build a base to go on a winning streak, and there can’t be a better game to do that than the upcoming game on Sunday, March 13.

Nets inspired by a Rookie
On the other hand, it was an inspired performance by the Nets as rookie Cam Thomas led the team with his stellar performances to come back from a poor first-three quarters performance to clinch the win in the 4th quarter.
Thomas gave Brooklyn their first lead in the game as he went on a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter. There were not more than 3 minutes left to the game, and that is when they started to believe that there was hope for them to get something from the game.
Cam Thomas scored 16 points out of his 21 in the fourth quarter. He had a disappointing first three quarters with scores of 1 for 9 and 1 for 10 to start, but he just kept on going and that finally paid off. Seth Curry also chipped in with 20 points, and the newly-added Andre Drummond grabbed 19 rebounds, the most by a Nets player this season.
An Embarrassment for NY Knicks
The Knicks had one of their worst games and gave up a huge lead. This was their third straight loss, and they went into the all-star break with 25-34 a year after reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
The Knicks have not overcome the Nets for quite some games and have had back-to-back losses against them. It was perhaps the most embarrassing loss for the Knicks. On top of going through a rough season, they gave up a 28-point lead to lose again.

This game will be a tussle for bragging rights as they are both from New York City. The New York Knicks are the original team from New York. They are based in Manhattan and play their home games in the world-famous Madison Square Garden.
New York Knicks
The Knicks had successful seasons during their early years. They were constantly qualifying for the playoffs during the initial stages and reached three consecutive NBA finals in the 1950s. Unfortunately, they could not win any of those three, and they began to fall down the pecking order after that.
The Knicks, however, started getting back to their best in the late 1960s and were able to win two NBA Championships in 1970 and 1973.
Although being the team with a better history in the city, the New York Knicks seem to have lost the mojo they had at the start of the season. In the beginning, things looked like the Knicks would be a force in the division but are now sitting at the lower end of the standings.
New York has now lost 7 of its last 8 games heading into the break. The recent loss at Madison Square Garden must have been one hell of a sting, but they have got to work their way back up. The All-Star break couldn’t have come at a better time for Tom Thibodeau’s side.

On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets were originally from New Jersey and moved to Barclays Center in New York in 2012. The Nets reached two NBA finals in the early 2000s but could not win either.
Since moving to Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Nets have managed to qualify for the playoffs 6 times but haven’t won a championship yet.
In the current scenario, Brooklyn Nets have assembled quite an exciting bunch of players in addition to their previous ones. The likes of Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry, Drummond, etc., can make or break a game. Also, you cannot write off the rookie Cam Thomson who single-handedly destroyed the New York Knicks in the fourth quarter during their last meet in Madison Square Garden.
Kyrie Irving seemed to have been back to his best in his last game against Charlotte Hornets. He scored a historic 50 points to seal the win for the Nets. That also meant the end of Brooklyn’s five-game losing streak.
It was a masterclass showcase of his skills that he broke analytics. The Nets have struggled with Kevin Durant’s injury and Kyrie’s issue, who can play only half of the Nets’ games because of his unvaccinated status.
It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this game. The NY Knicks possess attacking prowess, but they are also shaky at the back, and the Nets may have a couple of key players missing. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this game.
