NBA 2021-2022: The Most-Awaited Start Of The Regular Season
The National Basketball Association (NBA) Championship series is in full swing with the start of the regular season. The NBA will celebrate its 75th-anniversary season in October 2021 with a week of unforgettable experiences highlighting the game, players and culture.
The four-day celebration will comprise multiple fan, community and media events – culminating with the 2021 NBA All-Star Game by Kia. The league has not yet announced a host city for the 2021 All-Star Weekend.
In addition to the games, NBA players will have several opportunities to directly engage with fans around the world. A series of NBA Viewing Parties will connect thousands of fans and communities with their favorite teams and players. There will be additional online content that tells stories of basketball’s growth from a backyard game to the world’s favorite sport.
The world’s premier basketball championship will tip off an anniversary campaign. It will pay homage to the moments, milestones and figures that have shaped the league in its storied history. The season will showcase the star-studded lineup of past and present NBA players, teams, coaches and celebrities. The ones passionate about the game will be involved throughout the season-long celebration.
“In planning for our 75th season, we wanted to take a true global approach by celebrating the NBA not only here in the States, but throughout the world,” said Byron Spruell, NBA President, League Operations. “We are looking forward to engaging with our fans through this celebratory season.”
NBA 2021-22: Season Scheduled
The NBA is all set to start its 2021 season on October 19th, which will last through April 10th, 2022. It will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with a regular season of 82 games. This is a significant increase from the 60 games that were played in the 2020 season.
The team having the best record in their respective conference will have home-court advantage in the playoffs. The top 16 teams in each conference will make it to the playoffs. In order to qualify for the playoffs, a team must make it at least 50 wins. They also must not have any losses after their last 25 games.
It has been reported by ESPN that if these criteria are fulfilled, then a team automatically qualifies for the playoffs. In previous years, they wouldn’t have made it if they had a weaker schedule or lost too many games in a row.
2021-22 NBA Regular Season: Play-In Tournament
The NBA play-in tournament will be held from Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 April 2022. The teams that will play against each other in the quarter-finals are unconfirmed at this point. However, the play-in tournament is all about giving late bloomers and underdogs a second chance in the NBA.
2021-22 NBA Regular Season: Playoffs and Finals Schedule
The NBA has seen a lot of success in the past few years. The league has done well with what it does best, which are its playoffs and finals. The 2022 playoffs are scheduled to commence on April 16 and will conclude with the finals on May 30. It is always entertaining to watch these games.
There will be a total of 16 teams from the Eastern Conference and Western Conference. Each table’s number-one seed for each conference is based on a regular-season record. One will face against another team in a best-of-seven series in the second round to determine who advances to the third round.
The winner of a table’s semi-finals faces off in the Eastern Conference Finals and the Western Conference finals. This determines who advances to the best-of-seven NBA finals.
